Kathy Mattea
October 16, 2007, 7:30 p.m., Keystone Theatre
Acclaimed recording artist and performer Kathy Mattea returns to the Keystone this season, bringing music from her exciting new project, a stripped down, roots oriented, acoustic approach from the coal mining era that fueled the industrial growth of our country over a century ago. Her career has spanned 20 years and she’s experienced every level of success imaginable. From her first hit, “Love At The Five And Dime” in 1988, to the emotional resonance of “Where’ve You Been” and affirmation of “Walking Away A Winner,” Mattea has exuded the kind of class and integrity that fans, critics and peers can’t help but embrace. Grammy and Country Music Awards preceded the unabashed respect shown her more recent folk and Celtic inflected offerings, giving her career an enviable foundation – a platform stable enough to support the continuing evolution displayed on her new album, “Right Out of Nowhere.”

She has appeared in several New York theaters, as well as made appearances in the Jim Henson International Festival of Puppet Arts. In early 2000, she joined with Tan Dun in his multimedia opera, “The Gate.” She currently teaches her art at universities as well as does residencies in elementary, middle and high schools. Christine Lavin
November 26, 2007, 7:30 p.m., Sayre Theatre
Singer, songwriter, entertainer – that’s Christine Lavin and her songs are the soundtracks of American life, nailing a goodly number of the absurdities, reversals and neuroses that jam up our daily lives. With her liquid-silver voice and comic genius, Christine threads her wonderfully skewed songs into a smart and witty theatre-concert.

Billboard Magazine lauds her with “Lavin is as captivating an artist in solo performance as there is today.”

She is the founder of 4 Bitchin’ Babes that was a part of last season’s Nightlife series.

From pre-show knitting circles to her signature baton twirl, Christine’s interaction with audiences is rarely matched by any other performer.

The Curtis Winchester Band
March 29, 2008, 7:30 p.m., Keystone Theatre
This is a metro New York based rhythm and blues band, featuring Port Chester, N.Y., native Curtis Winchester. Joined by harmonica and rhythm guitar player Mark Reuter, a Towanda native, they have worked their blues show since 1994. Don Hurta, bass and vocals; Erik Perez, drums; and P.P. Junior, lead guitar, comprise the rest of the group.

With emphasis on variety, the CWB uses rhythm and blues songs from a wide range of artist and styles, linking the classic blues of the Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williams era to the contemporary blues of Robert Cray, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn. And just to mix it up a little, Marvin Gay, Ray Charles, Al Green and Bill Withers can also be heard.

This is a return engagement for CWB. A number of fans have requested they return for another gig at the Keystone.
